ANALISIS NILAI-NILAI KARAKTER PADA PUISI BAHASA INGGRIS KARYA MAHASISWA SEBAGAI WUJUD KESADARAN TERHADAP NILAI-NILAI KARAKTER.

Abstrak:

Makalah ini adalah sebuah makalah yang bersumber dari penelitian deskriptif kualitatif yang bertujuan menganalisis nilai-nilai karakter pada puisi bahasa inggris karya mahasiswa jurusan pendidikan bahasa inggris UNDIKSHA. Penelitian ini menganalisis 166 puisi bahasa inggris karya mahasiswa yang merupakan proyek akhir dari mata kuliah literature 1: poetry. Dari 166 puisi bahasa inggris yang dianalisis ditemukan 137 puisi yang mengandung nilai-nilai karakter yang mengacu pada 18 nilai karakter oleh kemendiknas. Puisi-puisi ini dianalisa oleh dua pakar da hasl analisa dibandingkan untuk mendapatkan kesimpulan akhir. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data yang dilakukan dapat disimpulkan bahwa penyebaran 18 nilai karakter yang diteliti tidaklah merata. Akan tetapi hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa setidaknya semua 18 nilai karakter terakomodasi dalam puisi-puisi karya mahasiswa. Dari 18 nilai karakter 4 nilai karakter mencapai prosentase tertinggi yaitu: jujur, kerja keras, toleransi dan bersahabat / komunikatif. Hal ini menunjukkan mahasiswa memiliki kesadaran tertinggi pada 4 nilai karakter ini yang muncul berdasarkan pengaruh lingkungan dan pengalaman hidup mereka.

   Abstract:   This article highlights Continuous Professional Development (CPD) innovative ways that New English Teachers (NETs) can do to improve their competencies. NETs, as they start off their career, may understand Professional Development in a wrong way. For many, Professional development is limited to planned, formal or structured activities. Teachers’ failure in understanding  professional development as a continuous process could be one of the factors why they do not participate in CPD. Some teachers do not realize that CPD may cover all types of learning, including those which are not planned and well-structured activities which may help them improving their professionalism.

Developing Crossword Anthology to Enhance Linguistic Ability

Abstract:
This paper reports the project creating anthology of crosswords puzzle to maintain or improve Semantic Verbal Fluency (henceforth: SVF). SVF is a contributor of communication skill both verbal and written which is very important for many graduates as well as employers. It is the ability to generate words on the basis of share meaning. Crossword puzzle is the most word puzzle that can be found easily in any daily newspaper or magazine. However, studies have revealed that crossword is not merely a game but also a tool to sharpen SVF and linguistic ability. It is believed that performing simple crossword on regular basis may improve SVF functioning. The anthology is developed for learners or people who want to have a non formal learning to support their linguistic ability. The project is carried out with the purpose of providing a source for informal learning and not formal learning as it happens in the classrooms. However, to achieve its aforementioned goal this anthology is to be used for regular activity. The crosswords practice help the intended users improve their linguistic ability by activating their cognitive faculties and functioning specific brain structure which play important role in language production.
